As i will be producing a newspaper advert it is only wise that i look into the pros and cons of a newspaper advert to see what ways in which my advertisement can be succesful. For our documentary we are planning to inform young people about teenage pregnancy and contraception. So for my newspaper advertisement i will be using a still image to connote to my target audience the advantages and disadvantages of using contraception.
As we are only a small tv company I have found out that a newspaper advertisement will work out to be cheaper and is also it is an effective way to inform a wider range of audience according to statistics i have been doing some research into.

However there are disadvantages to newspaper advertisements such as
- people ignoring your advert
- it might not reach the right target audience if it's not put in the right newspaper
Also through out my research i have have found out that, when doing a newspaper advertisement, it is good to avoid giving people contact info to call as it is a human tendecy to ignore it.
To give me an idea of how a good and bad newspaper advert about contraception and teenage pregnancy look like, here are two examples :
![]() This advert in my opinion is not really a good advert as there is not enough information on it, yes you can tell that they are advertising contraception, but it doesn't tell you who they are and were the contraception can be found. The advertisement above is a good example of how an effective advertisement looks as the title immediately tells us that they are for and informing people about contraception. Also by looking at the logo "NHS" it allows the audience to recognise who produced this advertisement as this is a very familiar logo to majority of people. |
